Girdwood Food Pantry

The Girdwood Food Pantry is dedicted to nourishing our neighbors, one meal at a time.

Food insecurity within Turnagain Arm communities is a widespread issue affecting numerous families and individuals. Each month, the Girdwood Food Pantry makes a difference by serving 250 of our community members. Over 3000 people a year benefit from crucial support that meets human basic needs. In a small town like Girdwood, the people who utilize the Food Bank are most likely familiar faces to you—people working in our local small businesses, parents with children in our school, and workers at our town’s biggest employers.

When you donate to the Food Pantry, you're helping create a safer, healthier Girdwood. Your support doesn't just feed people; it fosters a sense of community and connection. Thank you for being a part of this impactful work.

Distribution happens 3 times a month; the first Sunday and 2nd and 4th Wednesday. The Girdwood Food Pantry is a zero barrier distribution venue, operating as a partner agency of the Food Bank of Alaska since 2007. During each food pantry distribution day, families are provided with a week's supply of groceries, helping to bridge the gap experienced once resources are depleted and prior to receiving their following paycheck. The staff and volunteers at Turnagain Community Services also facilitate connections for families and individuals to access other essential services and seek to eliminate obstacles to self-sufficiency, broaden access to local opportunities, and instill optimism for a brighter future. Respect and dignity remain paramount in every interaction, ensuring families receive a supportive boost during challenging times.
