Girdwood Community Garden

Growing Together, and Giving Back

Our community garden is more than just a place to grow plants; it is a gathering spot for neighbors to come together, share knowledge, and build lasting friendships.

Picture this: A garden where veggies do the talking and volunteers add the magic touch! Our garden doesn't just grow produce; it cultivates community bonds. Each year the community plots are harvested and portions are given to the Girdwood Food "Plant-ry" to share with our neighbors. The garden is tucked away between snow-capped mountains and lush evergreen forests on the property of the Girdwood Chapel and serves as a symbol of sustainability, unity, and growth for local residents.

Would you like to tend a plot at Girdwood's Community Garden? Fill out the Interest Form. The Girdwood Community Garden collects information from people interested in our limited number of plots. It is our intention to prioritize those in our community who are food insecure and/or struggling financially. Once the plots are sorted, we will contact you with information and next steps. Garden space is limited, and we may not be able to accomdate all those interested.

Please note that filling out the Interest Form is NOT a garden registration, it is simply a show of interest.

Annual fees to offset operating costs are $25 per season.  Needs-based discounts are available.

Donate funds to the Girdwood Community Garden! Your funds will be used to grow our "Plant-ry" as well as grow community. Thank you!

Fundraising: Each spring the Girwood Community Garden holds a plant sale fundraiser at Girdwood Brewing Company.  The sale features mature and starter annuals, perennials, and perhaps some vegetable starts. The starter plants are grown by volunteers, and all funds raised support the garden.

Garden Wish List: In addition to maintaining our local gardening plots, we are interested in raising funds to build a storage shed, start a composting program, help with greenhouse venting, as well as utilize solar power for greenhouse fans. Interested in becoming a Girdwood Community Garden Sponsor?
